FACULTY POSITIONS

Principal Investigator, Rehabilitation Strategies in Brain and Spinal Cord Injury
The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/Department of Neurological Surgery/Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine and College of Engineering are seeking outstanding applicants at the Assistant, Associate or full Professor levels. A significant record of academic accomplishment and the potential to attract independent research funding are important considerations for these tenure track positions. The Miami Project offers excellent basic science, translational, and clinical research programs directed toward study of central and peripheral nervous system damage and development of novel treatments to promote functional recovery. The completion of a new Rehabilitation Hospital in 2020 will present an outstanding opportunity for the translation of emerging therapies and technologies to a large brain and spinal cord patient population. The recent establishment of the Institute of Neural Engineering at the University of Miami presents an opportunity for qualified candidates to be hired jointly by The Miami Project and the BME Department. Associate Professor of Research – Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
The position of Research Associate Professor in The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis/Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation requires a Ph.D and/or M.D. degree.  Applicants at the Research Associate Professor level should have completed a program of post-doctoral training. A significant record of academic accomplishment and the potential to attract independent research funding are important considerations for this position.  The candidate will be expected to establish and maintain a significant research program funded by extramural sources and establish a track-record of publishing in major, peer-reviewed journals.  The candidate will need to pursue clinical research focused on developing and testing novel strategies to improve functional outcomes following neurological trauma and disease. Research Associate Professor is expected to independently design, plan and execute research experiments; write and prepare manuscripts based on research findings and analysis; and submit proposals for extramural funding. The Research Associate Professor will also serve as a Co-PI on current grants. POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATES

Our Postdoctoral Programs offer the opportunity for candidates to perform research in a scientifically diverse setting and contribute to the overall research efforts taking place in our facility. Individuals are considered on the basis of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience. Candidates must also demonstrate willingness in furthering the continuing scientific and technological success of The Miami Project.

STUDENT FELLOWSHIPS

Both graduate and undergraduate students have the opportunity to volunteer or accept part-time paid positions in many of our laboratories. Paid positions for summer students are made available each year through the support of various funding agencies.
